Private Pay Therapy and Superbills, Explained
Private pay means you pay the practice directly. A superbill may help you ask your insurer about out-of-network reimbursement, but it cannot promise payment.

Paying Directly
What Private Pay Means Here
Open Heart Healed Mind is private pay only and does not bill insurance. You pay for your therapy session or intensive directly, according to the fee for that service. If you have out-of-network benefits, you can ask your insurer whether your plan might reimburse any part of the cost. The practice does not decide your plan's coverage or submit a claim on your behalf.
The fee for a 50-minute Individual Therapy visit is $225. Individual Sex Therapy is $250 for 50 minutes, Couples and Sex Therapy is $300 for 50 minutes, and an Extended Specialty Session is $395 for 90 minutes. Knowing the fee before you begin helps you think about a sustainable schedule. Andrea can discuss which format fits your concern; the price alone does not determine the clinical plan.
A Document to Request
What a Superbill Can and Cannot Do
A superbill is a document with information that an insurer may ask for when you submit an out-of-network claim. Superbills are available on request. Receiving one does not mean your plan will cover the service, accept the document, or reimburse a particular amount. Each insurer and plan sets its own rules, including deductibles and any requirements for out-of-network care.
Before relying on possible reimbursement, contact your insurer and ask about the exact service you are considering. Ask what paperwork they require, whether telehealth is covered, and how the deductible affects payment. If you want to know what information appears on a superbill, discuss it with Andrea before requesting one. Do not base your budget on an unconfirmed estimate of what an insurer might pay.
Extended Care
Budgeting for an Intensive
EMDR and ERP/OCD Intensives each cost $1,500 for 180 minutes. A 180-minute Couples & Intimacy Intensive is $1,750. Ketamine-assisted psychotherapy starts at $1,500 for about 180 minutes of psychotherapy, with separate medical and ketamine costs. Custom & Multi-Day Intensives run 360+ minutes and cost $2,500 to $3,000+, priced after consultation.
Before an intensive, the required consultation is $100. The $100 is credited in full toward your first paid session or intensive. That means the consultation is not a free preliminary call, and it is also not an extra $100 on top of the first paid service if you proceed. Ask your insurer directly whether a particular extended service could qualify under your plan; do not assume that a standard session benefit applies to a longer appointment.
Clear Expectations
Questions to Settle Before Booking
You can ask what a session costs, when payment is due, and whether a superbill is available for the format being discussed. For a possible insurance claim, the most reliable answers about reimbursement come from your insurer, not the therapist. A Good Faith Estimate is available so you can review expected charges before receiving care.
Please give 48 hours' notice to cancel or reschedule. Late cancellations and missed appointments may be charged the full fee. Plan around the actual appointment length, especially for an intensive. Andrea sees clients by secure telehealth when they are physically located in Texas, Colorado, or Idaho during the session. Discuss travel or scheduling questions before your appointment so the arrangement is clear.
A superbill may include clinical information that an insurer requires for a claim. If privacy is a concern, ask what would be included before requesting or submitting one. You can decide whether pursuing possible reimbursement makes sense for you. Private pay does not remove the need to understand the total cost, especially if you are comparing regular sessions with an extended appointment over several months.
A Next Step
When to Reach Out
If the costs or paperwork affect whether you can begin, bring those questions to the consultation request. You can ask about the fee for the recommended format and request a superbill when appropriate. For any reimbursement decision, confirm the details directly with your insurance plan.
Know the cost before you commit.
Start with a $100 consultation. The $100 is credited in full toward your first paid session or intensive.
