OCD and Relationships
Relationship OCD
You care about your relationship. Yet the question of whether it is right can take up more room than the relationship itself.

The Question That Returns
When Doubt Demands an Answer
Maybe you measure how much you feel when your partner walks into the room. You compare your relationship to someone else's, replay a conversation for clues, or test whether attraction is still there. A reassuring answer settles things briefly. Then another question arrives, and you start the investigation again.
Relationship OCD can turn ordinary uncertainty into an urgent problem to solve. The concern may shift between your feelings, your partner's traits, and the possibility that you are making a mistake. You do not need to prove that your relationship is perfect to talk about the loop. The work begins by noticing what happens after doubt appears.
What Happens in Session
We Look at the Response
In session, Andrea helps you map the moment doubt shows up and what follows: checking your feelings, comparing, asking someone to tell you it is okay, or mentally reviewing the past. Those responses make sense as attempts to feel settled. They can also keep the question at the center of your day.
Andrea is Certified in ERP (Exposure and Response Prevention) and can help you practice allowing uncertainty without feeding the checking cycle. An exercise might involve noticing a familiar trigger and choosing not to seek another guarantee. It is planned with you, not sprung on you. Therapy helps you relate to doubt differently while leaving relationship decisions to you.
The Shape of Care
Time to Practice Between Sessions
Individual Therapy is $225 for 50 minutes. It offers a regular place to examine the rituals that may be hard to recognize because they happen silently. Between sessions, you can notice when you are asking the same question in new words, and bring those moments back to the work without grading yourself for them.
An ERP/OCD Intensive is $1,500 for 180 minutes when more concentrated, extended therapeutic time fits the plan. Before any intensive, a $100 consultation is required. The $100 is credited in full toward your first paid session or intensive. You and Andrea discuss which format is appropriate rather than assuming that longer is the answer.
Where You Are
A Conversation You Can Have from Home
You may hesitate to say a doubt out loud because it sounds like a judgment of someone you love. Here, you can talk about the pattern without having to defend your partner or make a relationship decision on the spot. The distinction between a meaningful concern and an OCD ritual deserves careful attention, not a snap answer.
Sessions are offered by secure telehealth for people located in Texas, Colorado, or Idaho at the time of care. The consultation gives you a chance to describe what is taking up your time and consider whether specialized OCD treatment is the right level of support.
Questions
Frequently Asked Questions
Will therapy tell me if my partner is right for me?
No. ERP focuses on the cycle of doubt and reassurance, not on issuing a verdict about your relationship. You remain the person who makes relationship decisions.
Can checking my feelings be a compulsion?
It can be when the checking becomes a repeated attempt to gain certainty. In session, you and Andrea look at the function of the behavior rather than judging the feeling itself.
What if there are real relationship concerns?
Real concerns deserve attention. An assessment can help distinguish practical relationship questions from the repetitive rituals that keep OCD going.
